Ages 5 and Up

Aimée Jo demonstrates various painting techniques and styles using water-based paint (including glaze, acrylic, and gouache).
Then, she guides students through practice and experimentation. Her style of painting encompasses abstract expressionism, figurative abstraction, and impressionism. She often begins painting without a definite subject in mind and encourages her students to do the same. By simply appreciating the beauty of color and enjoying the process of applying paint, form naturally comes into focus. This is a relaxed and inspirational method of teaching and painting. Color theory, line, texture, shape, balance, rhythm, contrast, proportion and emphasis are discussed during lessons. These are important and aid in the creation of original and interesting compositions. If students have specific goals and learning objectives, Aimée Jo is happy to support them.

Art history, gallery exploration, and exhibition skills are topics of
consideration for those desiring to enroll in a seven-week course.
